Simi's inspiration to the automotive industry

I was inspired by my father, who worked in the automotive industry. Growing up, I was always surrounded by cars, so it felt familiar to me. Seeing more and more women confidently driving cars also motivated me.

Joining the industry itself happened a bit by coincidence. Around the time my father was preparing to retire, the opportunity came up for me to step into the automotive world. Today, I continue that journey as a Sales Representative at Suzuki.

Discovering a path in sales

At the beginning of my career, I did not really see myself working in sales. I imagined myself more in administrative roles, and the idea of dealing directly with customers felt a bit challenging since I have always been quite timid by nature.

However, over time I grew into the role. With more than 24 years of experience today, I have built strong confidence and truly enjoy the interaction and relationships that come with working closely with clients.

A career filled With meaningful moments

One moment that stayed with Simi was delivering a vehicle to a client early in his journey, with his parents present for the occasion. She remembers how proud they were to see him reach that milestone.

The road had not been easy for him, but today he has built a successful car rental business. Watching his progress over the years has been especially meaningful for Simi. For her, relationships with clients have always gone beyond a sale, and over time she has come to consider him almost like family.

Moments like these are what bring her the greatest job satisfaction. Sometimes clients even bring her small presents as a gesture of appreciation. She never expects it, but it means a lot to know she has made a positive impact on their lives. Deliveries can also be very emotional moments. When clients get emotional, she often feels the same way, because she feels she is sharing in their wins and important milestones. She still remembers special deliveries, like handing over a car on a client’s birthday, moments that make the experience even more meaningful.

Watching the Industry Evolve

When I first started my career, the automotive industry was largely dominated by men. At the time, it was quite rare to see women working in different roles within this sector.

Over the years, I have seen a beautiful evolution. Today, more and more women are joining the industry as sales representatives, service advisors, and even mechanics. Seeing this progress motivates me and makes me proud. It is inspiring to watch women grow, take their place, and confidently build their careers in the automotive world.

Advice for young women considering a career in automotive

My advice to young women considering this career path is simple: go for it, but stay grounded. It is important to remain honest and not be blinded by money or fame.

Automotive sales can be a beautiful career, but it requires the right mindset. I believe it is important not to judge people and to treat every client with care, because each person is unique. Listening carefully, showing empathy, and having patience are essential to building meaningful relationships with clients.

Ambition, balance, and staying grounded

For Simi, balance comes with good planning. She believes that organising your time well allows you to manage both work and personal life, and to give the right attention to each.

Client favourite employee shield: A recognition that means a lot

Receiving the Client Favourite Employee shield after 24 years in the automotive industry meant a lot to Simi. It was her first award in all those years, which made the recognition even more special.

For her, the award represents the trust of her clients, their positive feedback, and their satisfaction. Knowing that customers took the time to rate and appreciate her work made her feel truly valued and seen. It is a moment she holds very close to her heart.

A Message to women

I encourage women to live life on their own terms and to do what truly makes them happy. For me, there is nothing a woman cannot achieve unless she places limits on herself.

My message is simple: stay strong, be independent, and do not let the opinions of others define who you are. Believe in your strength and in everything you are capable of achieving.
