JOB OBJECTIVE

The Systems and Network Engineer is responsible to design, implement, and maintain a robust IT infrastructure that supports our organisational goals. This role will focus on ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of network and server environments, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and wireless technologies, across multi-site environments.
  • Configure, monitor, and optimise server environments (Windows, Linux, and hybrid) to ensure high availability, scalability, and compliance with organisational standards.
  • Implement and enforce security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection, to safeguard data and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and system issues, utilising diagnostic tools and methodologies to minimise downtime.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, cloud, and application teams to align infrastructure strategies with organisational requirements and industry best practices.
  • Document system configurations, network topologies, and incident resolutions to support knowledge management and process improvement.

SKILLS

  • Proven experience in configuring and managing network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VLAN) and server environments (Windows, Linux, hybrid).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSPF) and server technologies (IAM, ITSM, UEM and SIEM).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or hybrid models) and experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, XenServer or KVM).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain security frameworks, including firewalls, SIEM, and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash or Python) and/or automation tools to streamline operational tasks.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Linux+, Server+ or Microsoft Certified: Server Administrator) are advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering reliable, secure, and scalable IT solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in configuring, managing, and optimising NAS/SAN environments, including implementation of storage protocols such as iSCSI, NFS, and SMB.
  • Strong passion for technology and a desire to pursue a career in IT support.
