Ford Mauritius empowers local youth through Ride 4 UR Community

17th july, 2026

Discover how Ford Mauritius, Axess, ER Foundation and Decathlon Mauritius are empowering young Mauritians through the Ride 4 UR Community initiative by creating opportunities through sport and community engagement.

Every kilometer created new opportunities

Drive 4 UR Community is a global Ford initiative that empowers dealerships to support local communities through fundraising and engagement events. By partnering with nonprofit organisations, Ford transforms test-drive experiences into opportunities to fund projects focused on community development, education, skills training, and rebuilding efforts. The programme reflects Ford’s commitment to creating a positive and lasting impact beyond mobility by helping communities grow stronger together.

Building on this commitment, Ford Mauritius, represented by Axess, continued its community engagement as Gold Sponsor of the 10th Colin Mayer Tour 2025. Ford Mauritius partnered with ER Foundation and Decathlon Mauritius to organise a solidarity challenge that invited the public to cycle on static bikes throughout the event.

Every 100 kilometres completed helped fund professional mountain bike training for one young participant. Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of everyone who took part, five young members of the Nou Tou Ensam Association in L’Escalier earned the opportunity to begin their mountain biking journey. The challenge transformed every pedal stroke into something meaningful, opening doors for the next generation while bringing the community together around a shared purpose.

Learning from one of Mauritius' best

The five selected participants have started their eight weekly training sessions, held every Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Savannah International School, under the guidance of Mauritian mountain biking champion Aurélie Halbwachs and her coaching team.

While developing technical mountain biking skills, the programme also teaches values that extend far beyond sport. Discipline, determination, teamwork and self-confidence are all part of the experience, helping each child build skills that will support them throughout their lives.

For Ford Mauritius, adventure is not only about exploring new roads, but also about encouraging young people to discover their own potential.

A partnership that goes beyond training

The initiative doesn't end when the coaching programme finishes. To help each participant continue practicing and developing their passion for mountain biking, Decathlon Mauritius will offer a brand-new mountain bike to every child completing the programme.

This additional commitment ensures that the opportunities created through Ride 4 UR Community continue long after the final training session, giving every participant the tools to keep progressing.

Building stronger communities together

Ride 4 UR Community is Ford Mauritius' initiative aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for the community. For this edition, Ford partnered with ER Foundation and Decathlon Mauritius to deliver a project that combines community engagement, sport, and education.

Through this collaboration, the initiative demonstrates how businesses can work together to inspire young people, promote active lifestyles, and make a tangible difference in their everyday lives.

As Daryl Dabeesing, the Brand Manager of Ford, explains, the programme encourages young Mauritians to believe in themselves while embracing the values that define Ford adventure, resilience and continuous self-improvement.

Driving positive change, one kilometer at a time

Ride 4 UR Community is proof that mobility is about more than vehicles. It is about connecting people, supporting communities and creating opportunities that can shape future generations.

Through every kilometer completed, every partnership formed and every young life inspired, Ford Mauritius continues to demonstrate its commitment to building stronger communities across the island.

The journey has only just begun, and every new initiative brings another opportunity to drive positive changes together.
